Blowers create air flow (flow rate). The total blower system creates pressure (back pressure) through resistance to air flow. By combining the flow rate and back pressure, you can identify the actual operating air flow. Optimal energy use is achieved when the pressure in headers is just sufficient to overcome the static pressure. Because many wastewater treatment plant operators tend to set pressure points too high, excess blower discharge pressure occurs – which wastes power.
RBC
A rotating biological contactor or RBC is a biological fixed-film treatment process used in the treatment of wastewater following primary treatment. The primary treatment process involves removal of grit, sand and coarse suspended material through a screening process, followed by settling of suspended solids.
SBR
The sequencing batch reactor (SBR) is a fill-and- draw activated sludge system for wastewater treatment. In this system, wastewater is added to a single “batch” reactor, treated to remove undesirable components, and then discharged.
Biological Systems
Biological treatments rely on bacteria, nematodes, or other small organisms to break down organic wastes using normal cellular processes. Wastewater typically contains a buffet of organic matter, such as garbage, wastes, and partially digested foods. It also may contain pathogenic organisms, heavy metals, and toxins. The goal of biological wastewater treatment is to create a system in which the results of decomposition are easily collected for proper disposal. Biological treatment is used worldwide because it’s effective and more economical than many mechanical or chemical processes.

Denim manufacturing requires an enormous quantity of water. Dyeing and finishing/washing processes are major sources of wastewater pollution in this sector, and the resulting wastewater contains large amounts of dyestuff and alkaline chemicals.
